I’Anson Welcomes International Farmers to Mill
I’Anson, one of the country’s leading, family owned animal feeds businesses has been selected to showcase the UK’s innovation in farming and agriculture to a worldwide audience.
The Masham-based company hosted a 66-strong group of global farming professionals as part of a nationwide tour of the UK’s most successful agricultural businesses. The group visited ahead of the International Farm Management Association’s (IFMA) annual congress in Edinburgh in July.
Hailing from the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, the farmers also visited the town’s famous Black Sheep brewery before heading to the mill to find out more about I’Anson’s unique manufacturing processes.
Chris I’Anson, Managing Director of the company, said: “The IFMA congress is a fantastic opportunity for farming professionals from all over the world to get together and share best practice. It’s an honour to be chosen as one of the places to visit on the tour of the UK as we really were in excellent company. I hope we’ve managed to give our visitors a sense of the combination of tradition and innovation our business prides itself on.”
Richard Cooksley, Secretary of the IFMA and organiser of the tour, said: “This tour was all about giving our visitors a flavour of what the UK does best. I’Anson is a shining example of the best of Britain and goes to show what can be achieved by family-run businesses if they consistently deliver a high quality product. The visitors were afforded a real insight into the company and left full of praise for their approach.”
Elsewhere on the week-long trip, visitors were treated to tours around university departments, dairy plants, the Land Rover production facility and even a Christmas tree plantation.
The visit to the I’Anson facility caps a busy month for the company, with a £60,000 donation recently made to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity. The donation was funded from the savings made from a green initiative to replace old fashioned fluorescent bulbs with state of the art LEDs in the firm’s mill.
Now one of the UK’s most successful specialist suppliers of farm feeds, micronized ingredients and horse feeds, with customers in over 30 countries worldwide, I’Anson is an independent, fourth generation, family-owned and managed company.
